Ainda sem definição sobre seu futuro, já que seu contrato de empréstimo com a Inter de Limeira acaba no próximo dia 27 de abril, João Victor relembrou seus primeiros treinos no CT Joaquim Grava e agradeceu Fábio Carille pela oportunidade dada. Embora não tenha feito nem um jogo oficial sequer, o zagueiro participou de três amistosos durante a parada da Copa América.

– O Carille me observava desde a base e me deu a oportunidade de subir para a profissional. Sempre conversava comigo, se importava com todos os atletas e sou muito grato a ele. O Corinthians teve muitos jogos no ano passado e, infelizmente, não apareceu espaço para que eu pudesse jogar. Entendo perfeitamente e sigo focado em voltar para o clube – finalizou o jogador.

O atual presidente Marcelo Medeiros, se encontra no último mandato, já que foi eleito em 2016 e reeleito dois anos depois. A partir da próxima eleição, o candidato eleito ficará por três anos no cargo.

Diante das especulações nos bastidores, ninguém da diretoria do Internacional comenta o caso e a tendência é que o silêncio seja mantido sobre o assunto.

Em conversa com o portal, o presidente do Conselho Deliberativo do Inter, José Aquino, afirmou que, se algum grupo pedir o adiamento, ele promete estudar a situação.

‘Reconhecemos que a situação é grave, inédita e impõe obstáculos para os quais não estávamos preparados. Há uma situação excepcional, mas também não podemos simplesmente rasgar o estatuto do clube. Temos que analisar vários aspectos, inclusive se a atual direção tem interesse e disponibilidade de seguir por mais alguns meses’, afirmou.

Fernando Diniz pediu desculpas à torcida do São Paulo pela derrota por 3 a 2 para o Mirassol na noite desta quarta-feira. O resultado deixou a equipe fora da semifinal do Campeonato Paulista.

– O torcedor merecia muito mais do que a gente apresentou contra o Bragantino (outra derrota por 3 a 2) e hoje. Temos que saber aceitar e suportar aquilo que vem e responder de maneira positiva dentro do campo. Logo após a partida, questionado sobre a possibilidade de ficar ameaçado no cargo, o treinador já havia dito que não está preocupado em ter paz, mas em trabalhar para corrigir os erros. A diretoria deve mantê-lo.

Não é uma coisa fácil de se explicar. A gente parou de uma forma e voltou de outra totalmente diferente, quase o oposto. Era um time que tinha conexão com o torcedor, entre nós mesmos, um jogo que fluía, criava chances pelos dois lados do campo, oferecia pouco contra-ataque e era muito atento. A gente voltou de forma muito diferente. É parar e retomar aquilo que a gente era no jogo do Santos.

O QUE MUDOU?
Taticamente, jogar contra linha baixa é muito difícil, sempre foi difícil. A gente voltou diferente na dinâmica, no ritmo, em saber atacar pelos dois lados, ter profundidade. A gente voltou um time mais fácil de ser marcado. Nessa pré-temporada tentamos dar uma carga física e técnica e faltou, de fato, a parte tática. Mas isso não foi o maior problema. A gente jogou com uma apatia que não podia ter jogado.

POUPAR O TIME DOMINGO ATRAPALHOU?
Absolutamente, isso não tem nada a ver. Ao contrário. A gente conseguiu descansar alguns jogadores. Não que eles estivessem cansados da sequência, mas teríamos pouco tempo de recuperação. Teve muitos problemas, esse não foi um deles.

Sobrou empenho às promessas de Fluminense e Botafogo na preliminar da Taça Gerson e Didi neste sábado. Em jogo intenso no Estádio Nilton Santos, a equipe sub-23 do Tricolor das Laranjeiras contou com um belo gol de Luiz Henrique para assegurar a vitória por 1 a 0 sobre o sub-20 do Glorioso.

O JOGO

A intensidade tomou conta da etapa inicial do clássico (que teve dois tempos de 40 minutos). O sub-23 do Tricolor das Laranjeiras aproveitou espaços na marcação adversária e arriscou com Lucas Ribeiro e Capixaba, mas o goleiro se impôs. Já o Alvinegro, que depositava suas fichas na velocidade de Ênio e em um bom desempenho de Navarro, teve boa chance com Vitinho, mas o camisa 10 pecou pelo preciosismo e permitiu defesa de João Lopes.

Aos poucos, a equipe comandada por Marcão foi tomando as rédeas da partida e teve boas investidas graças à tabela entre Lucas Barcelos e Lucas Ribeiro. Ribeiro tentou boa finalização, mas parou nas mãos de Saulo. Em seguida, Barcelos cobrou falta rente à trave. Em jogada da dupla, Lucas Ribeiro emendou para fora.

De tanto pressionar, o Fluminense abriu o placar em jogada bem trabalhada no na reta final. Luiz Henrique esticou a Lucas Barcelos. O camisa 11 tocou para Wisney, que só ajeitou. Com calma, Luiz Henrique bateu colocado no canto de Saulo.

A volta do intervalo trouxe um Botafogo mais impetuoso. Logo aos nove minutos, Wendell cobrou falta e obrigou João Lopes a se desdobrar para espalmar. Os tricolores reagiram com nova tentativa de Lucas Ribeiro, que Saulo esticou-se para salvar.

Em seguida, Romildo teve nova oportunidade de igualar para o Botafogo e chegou a assustar o goleiro do Tricolor das Laranjeiras. A equipe de Marcos Soares apostava em especial nas cobranças de escanteio feitas por Wendell e em investidas de Kauê.

Porém, aos poucos, os técnicos Marcão e Marcio Soares fizeram alterações em suas respectivas equipes e o ritmo do confronto foi caindo. O Botafogo chegou a ter boas chances com Matheus Nascimento e Souza, mas ambos furaram. A equipe de Marcão também teve boa investida, mas viu Luiz Henrique tropeçar em suas pernas.

No último minuto, Maxuel aproveitou cochilo da defesa adversária e bateu rasteiro. Porém, novamente, o Botafogo viu João Lopes se consagrar para garantir o triunfo dos jovens de Xerém no primeiro duelo do Estádio Nilton Santos.

The arrival of Djed Spence in a £15m deal from Middlesbrough during the summer transfer window was always going to make the right wing-back spot a crowded department and it appears as if the Irishman has slipped further down the pecking order.

Despite doubts over the credentials of Emerson Royal, the 30-year-old is seemingly on the periphery of the first-team squad, having failed to register more than eight minutes of action since the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

It means the £15m Jose Mourinho signing is quickly becoming a complete waste of money as he cannot break into the starting XI, even when manager Antonio Conte needs to rotate his team with seven matches in a three-week period.

The youthful Spence may well now be preferred, particularly as at the age of just 22, he’s the better long-term prospect to the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star, who was once dubbed the “weak link” of this Spurs side.

Doherty did enjoy some success at the back end of last season but injury curtailed his progress under the stern Italian head coach and evidently, since then, Conte has preferred other players over him.

Now valued at a lowly £6m by CIES Football Observatory, any hopes of earning some of that £15m back in future windows appear to be dead and buried – he’s not playing and certainly isn’t getting any younger.

Premier League rivals West Ham United were among the teams interested in a late move for him on deadline day.

Newcastle United smashed their club transfer record in the summer window as they decided to bring Alexander Isak in from Real Sociedad.

Dan Ashworth brought the Sweden international in for a reported fee of £59m to bolster Eddie Howe’s options at the top end of the pitch.

The 22-year-old has scored one goal in two Premier League matches since arriving at St. James’ Park and looks set to compete with Callum Wilson, who started the first three games of the campaign and scored twice, for a place in the team.

This leaves New Zealand international Chris Wood, who was signed from Burnley for £25m in January, as the third-choice option up front.

The £80k-per-week dud has struggled badly since making the move to Tyneside as he has failed to make a significant impact in the final third.

He has scored twice in 23 Premier League appearances for the Magpies and offers very little in the way of creativity. The striker ranks in the third and fourth percentiles for xG assisted and shot-creating actions respectively per 90 among players in his position in Europe’s top five leagues over the last 365 days, which shows that he is way below par when it comes to creating chances for his teammates.

Howe should, therefore, be looking to move the striker on at the next available opportunity as he does not offer enough in terms of goals or creativity to warrant a long-term place in the squad, particularly now that he is in his 30’s and is not a young player with potential.

The Magpies are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Garang Kuol from Central Coast Mariners and the youngster’s prospective arrival could pave the way for Wood to be shown the exit door.

Signing the teenager could allow Howe to jettison the former Burnley man from the squad in January as Kuol could take up the third striker spot in the squad.

At the age of 18, he is unlikely to be a player who comes straight into the first-team with the quality to challenge for a place in the starting line-up. The Australian international has only played nine senior matches in his club career, for Mariners, and would come in as a gem with the scope to develop over the years.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig dubbed him a “sensation” and described him as a “wonderkid”, which suggests that he has the ability to go on to achieve great things. Kuol’s record of four goals and one assist in his nine professional games backs this claim up as he has been able to make a huge impact in the final third in spite of his inexperience and age.

He is a young player with the potential to improve and has already shown that he has a knack for finding the back of the net on a regular basis. The gem could benefit from coming in to learn from the likes of Isak and Wilson, whilst being given the odd chance to play minutes in the Premier League, and eventually develop into someone who could be a key player for Howe.

Therefore, signing Kuol could allow the manager to cash in Wood as the youngster can provide back-up to the first-choice options, potentially on less than £80k-per-week, and be useful in the future, rather than being in the final years of his career.

Wolves may be having problems in the Premier League but their academy side are continuing to impress as they sealed their spot in the knockout stages of the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday night.

After defeating Shrewsbury Town 2-1 in their opening fixture thanks to a late brace from Joe Hodge, James Collins’ side repeated the trick against Stockport County last night to ensure their progression from Group C.

Goals from Lee Harkin and Tyler Roberts earned the Old Gold all three points, with only a late consolation from Conor Jennings putting a dampener on another impressive win and performance from the youngsters.

One man who staked a claim for a first-team spot with his performance was the much-discussed Chem Campbell, who is emerging as one of the top talents in Wolves’ academy.

As per SofaScore, the 19-year-old winger would earn a sold 6.6/10 rating for his display, with his creative ability clear to see throughout the 90 minutes, as he contributed three key passes, which was the most of any Wolves player to feature.

The teenage winger was heavily involved in Wolves’ attacking play, having two shots on target, one shot blocked and one shot hit the woodwork during the game, so he was clearly unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

Considering Wolves’ lack of goals and shots this season, with just three strikes in seven Premier League fixtures and only 2.86 shots on target per game thus far – the third worst in the division – Lage might consider promoting Campbell to the first team in the hope that he could ease their attacking woes.

Express and Star journalist Liam Keen was particularly impressed with one of Campbell’s solo runs during the game against Stockport County.

Campbell is clearly ready to be making his mark in senior football and with no loan move possible until January, a spell in the first team could well be on the cards for the teenager, especially when you consider the poor form of fellow wingers Pedro Neto, Goncalo Guedes and Hwang Hee-Chan, who have just one assist between them this season.

The Wales U19 international managed nine goals and nine assists in the Premier League 2 last season, so if Wolves continue to toil in front of goal, then Lage should consider unleashing Campbell in the first team, having afforded him just nine minutes of senior action so far this campaign.

Any player diagnosed with a concussion will not be able to train for a minimum of six days to ensure that a full recovery has taken place, and this means that the 30-year-old may now miss the season finale against Burnley on Sunday.

Supporters will be gutted

First and foremost, everyone will be thankful that Schar is not in a bad way and that he is ‘OK’ at the moment, given what happened on the pitch. However, Newcastle supporters will now be gutted that he may not be available this weekend.

His absence will be a big blow for Howe, as the Swiss ace has been in fantastic form in the second half of the campaign for the Magpies. Since the turn of the year, Schar has averaged a SofaScore rating of 6.9 or higher in the Premier League in every month, which shows that he has been consistently superb at the back.

He has proven that he can put in quality performances on a regular basis and has formed a strong partnership with Dan Burn at the heart of defence. The pair have played their part in lifting the team up the table, with Howe’s team currently sat in 12th place, a far cry from when he took over six months ago with the Magpies 19th in the league.

Schar has played 25 matches in the top flight this term, making 1.9 tackles and interceptions and 3.8 clearances per game. He has also chipped in with two goals and two assists as he has showcased his attacking quality from centre-back, adding another weapon to Newcastle’s threat in the final third.

These statistics illustrate how important he has been to the club, and that is why supporters will be gutted by the prospect of him missing out against Burnley, a game which could see the Magpies finish the season in the top half with a win.
