While the retention of 23-year-old Sudharsan ahead Mohammed Shami and David Miller might be a surprise, GT believe the left-hand batter from Tamil Nadu is a long-term player who can perform a key role in the top order. Sudharsan, who was bought for INR 20 lakhs in 2022, was sixth highest run-maker in IPL 2024 with 527 runs with an average of nearly 48 and strike rate of 141. He is considered as a potential future Test player too by India’s selectors and the team management lead by Gautam Gambhir. Speaking to LeedsUnitedNews, journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed that Everton number nine Beto, who was signed from Udinese for £26m in 2023, is still an option for the club this summer.

When asked about alternatives to Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz, the reporter said: “From what I’m told, I still don’t think Beto’s completely off Leeds’ list and off the table.

“I still think Everton are looking at other strikers as well, so if they brought another one in, Beto might still be an option. I wouldn’t rule him out at all. He’s still on the radar and a work in progress still, even if he’s not Leeds’ first-choice.”

These comments from Bailey show that Leeds are working on Beto as an alternative to Muniz, and Daniel Farke could land his own version of Chris Wood if the club decide to pursue the Portuguese forward.

The New Zealand international, as shown in the graphic below, scored a stunning 44 goals in 88 games during his time at Elland Road before being sold to Burnley.

In the present day, Wood plays for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and is coming off the back of a 20-goal haul for the Tricky Trees in the top-flight.

Even when he is not scoring goals, though, the 6 foot 3 marksman provides a strong physical presence in the centre-forward position, which is what Beto, 6 foot 4, has also proven in the division.

As you can see in the table above, the Everton attacker may not have scored 20 goals in the league, but he did win his fair share of physical duels and averaged 5.2 duels won per game.

This suggests that he would be a big upgrade on Piroe from a physical perspective, providing the team with a better outlet when they need to alleviate pressure, as Farke’s own version of Chris Wood.

Beto, who reporter Paddy Boyland claimed was “thriving” in the Premier League earlier this year, also scored his eight goals from 7.86 xG in just 15 starts.

This suggests that he has the potential and quality to hit double figures for goals in the division as a fairly clinical finisher, if Leeds are prepared to make him their starting number nine.

ويأتي انتقاد ميدو في وقت تتجه فيه أنظار الجماهير إلى استاد القاهرة، حيث يحتضن الليلة “كلاسيكو العرب” بين الأهلي والزمالك في الجولة التاسعة من الدوري الممتاز.

ورغم الهجوم، أكدت مصادر داخل الاستاد أن الساعات الماضية شهدت جهودًا مكثفة لإخراج الملعب في أفضل صورة، حيث جرى تجهيز أرضية اللعب بشكل كامل، فضلًا عن غرف الملابس، المدرجات، ومناطق جلوس الجماهير، مع تنفيذ خطة تنظيمية ومرورية لتأمين الحضور.

وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن القمة النارية المنتظرة بين الأهلي والزمالك، يسعى فيها الفارس الأبيض للفوز من أجل الابتعاد بصدارة ترتيب الدوري، حيث يتواجد في المركز الأول برصيد 17 نقطة.

على الجانب الآخر، يسعى الأهلي لتحقيق الانتصار من أجل العودة من جديد إلى المنافسة على لقب بطولة الدوري للموسم الحالي، بعد البداية السيئة، حيث يحتل المركز السابع برصيد 12 نقطة.

They haven’t even kicked a ball yet, and there is already an enormous amount of pressure on Arsenal.

After three successive second-place Premier League finishes, this season has a do-or-die feeling to it for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Fortunately, the Gunners looked impressive in their final game of pre-season against Athletic Bilbao, and the board have done a great job adding some real quality to the team over the summer.

However, with just over two weeks to go, Arsenal look determined to make at least one more addition, and if reports are to be believed, they’re looking at someone who’d be an even better signing than Rodrygo.

The Italian has overseen the addition of six players to the first team, with Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres the clear stand-outs.

However, instead of resting on their laurels, the North Londoners appear keen to add more quality to the team and could bring in someone who’d be even better than the previously linked Rodrygo.

At least that is according to a recent report from Caught Offside, which reaffirms Arsenal’s interest in Eberechi Eze.

The story has revealed that while Tottenham Hotspur have been in intense talks with Crystal Palace over the player, and could be set to make a £55m offer, the Gunners are still in the frame.

While it’s hard to be sure which North London side the Englishman will join this summer, sources have informed Caught Offside that “the next two days will decide it all.”

Therefore, Arsenal should move as fast as they can, as Eze would be an excellent addition to Arteta’s squad, and for our money, a better signing than Rodrygo.

Why Eze would be a better signing than Rodrygo

Now, while Arsenal would do incredibly well to sign either Rodrygo or Eze this summer, there are a few key reasons why the latter would be better than the former, and the first comes down to the league they play in.

This matters because while the quality of La Liga is exceptionally high, it would take the Brazilian some time to adapt to life in the Premier League, and when the Gunners need to win something this season, those few months of him getting up to speed could be hugely detrimental.

On the other hand, the Crystal Palace star has made 146 appearances in the competition since moving to South London.

Therefore, beyond getting to know his teammates, there really shouldn’t be much of an adaptation period for him.

The second big argument in favour of the Greenwich-born “superstar,” as dubbed by analyst Ben Mattinson, is his output.

For example, in his 43 appearances for the Eagles last season, totalling just 3303 minutes, the 27-year-old monster scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists.

In other words, the goalscoring dynamo managed to maintain an average of a goal involvement every 1.72 games, or every 132.12 minutes, for a team that finished in mid-table.

In contrast, the Brazilian international scored as many goals and provided as many assists, but did so in 54 appearances, totalling 3452 minutes.

That means he averaged a goal involvement every 2.16 games, or every 138.08 minutes, and did so in a far better team.

Finally, away from the quantifiable advantages, another tick for the Eagles ace is that, thanks to his time with the Three Lions, he already has a relationship with several players in the Gunners’ squad, like Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Noni Madueke.

While it might not sound like a big deal, this should make his integration into the squad far easier.

Ultimately, while Rodrygo is an exceptional player, Eze would be the better signing for Arsenal this summer.

قررت الإنسحاب من سياق الإنتخابات على عضوية مجلس إدارة النادي الأهلي – فوق السن، وذلك إحترامًا وتقديرًا للكابتن محمود الخطيب رئيس النادي، ولقائمته التي تمثل استقرار وإستمرار مسيرة النجاح داخل النادي الأهلي العظيم.

ويأتي هذا القرار إيمانًا بضرورة الحفاظ على وحدة وإستقرار النادي الأهلي، ودعمًا للمنظومة التي تعمل بإخلاص من أجل رفعة الكيان وخدمة أعضائه وجماهيره، وأن مصلحة الأهلي دائمًا فوق الجميع وفوق المناصب فالنادي الأهلي أولًا دائمًا وأبدًا.

وأتقدم بخالص الشكر والتقدير لكل من دعمني وساندني خلال الفترة الماضية، مؤكدة أن خدمة الأهلي شرف لا يرتبط بموقع أو منصب، بل هي التزام وإنتماء دائم لهذا الصرح الكبير، متمنية التوفيق لكابتن محمود الخطيب ومجلسه وللجميع.

عاشت مبادئ الأهلى، وعاش نادي القرن شامخًا بقيادته ورجاله المخلصين.

يُذكر أن لجنة تلقي طلبات الترشح أغلقت باب القيد رسميًا في تمام السابعة من مساء يوم الجمعة الماضي.
